Katy area schools weren’t the only schools that kicked off a new school year last week. KD Music & Arts (KDMA) began its 26th fall semester last week, and teachers and students alike are looking forward to what this new semester will bring.

KDs welcomed new teachers to its staff, including one instructor who began his studies at KDMA when he was just a child. That instructor, Mr. Luna, continued studying under jazz guitar virtuoso Clayton Dyess at KDMA through his high school graduation. He performed and toured professionally for a number of years after school, and is now fulfilling “a dream” by teaching at KDMA. If the first week or two of classes are any indication, Mr. Luna’s positive and relatable nature is already proving to be a hit with students. Mr. Luna teaches guitar and bass guitar, and joins Mr. Morris as KDs alums who currently serve as KDMA teachers.

In addition to Guitar and Bass Guitar, KDMA offers lessons in Saxophone, Trumpet, Rhythm and Mallet Percussion (Drums and Marimba), Violin, Viola,  Cello, Double Bass,  Voice, Clarinet, MAP (Music Applications), Piano, and Piano Prep (for age six).

Registration is still open for KDMA lessons and new classes are being formed weekly. Call 281-828-1500 for more details.
